John’s camera games teach students the meaning of “eye-lines” and to which off-camera character they must focus their primary dramatic emphasis. This class will change how you audition as well as help you deliver captivating performances for TV and film. Prerequisite: Intro to Camera (Magic Rectangle Technique).

From Dynamic Entrance to the Dynamic Ending, a comedic scene must set up, reinforce and misdirect the audience in order to deliver the funny! The audience may find the situations hysterical, but the characters within the story are often faced with chaos and consequences. The crazier the character’s situation, the more the audience enjoys it! Learning how to build and escalate the “funny” in a comedic scene is essential for any actor entering the brave world of comedy! John’s comedic “math” has helped many of his students enjoy careers on television. Scenes will be sent in advance and students will work in pairs to find the funny bone within the scene.  NOTE: The Magic Rectangle Technique is a pre-requisite to this course.
